Long Distance Grenade Lob Victory Royale
With Fortnite having recently released season five the topic of conversation for just about anyone can be narrowed down to either Fortnite or the World Cup, so when they both combine you can imagine that it makes for quite a piece of news.
During the final match between France and Croatia, French player Antoine Griezmann celebrated a goal with the ‘Take the L’ symbol. The twenty-seven year old is immensely talked about already for being the Forward for the French football team, so knowing that he is a fan of Fortnite makes him even better. It is a pretty old tradition for players to celebrate a win, but something video game inspired is a pretty new addition. In the month of June, the BBC reported that tons of players in Russia play Fortnite during their free time and it is one of their favorite things to do right after football.
It’s pretty obvious that Griezmann is fairly good at the “Take the L” dance, and it is the best piece of marketing Epic Games has received in awhile- let alone not having to paying a cent for it. Plenty of players across the world are loving his bold move to take the dance all the way to the World Cup. His celebration moves are one of the most trending topics on Twitter, and considering France is officially the winner of the 2018 World Cup they are taking Fortnite down in history with them.
The ‘Take the L’ sign is considered the best way to troll someone on Fortnite and is used by players who want to create a point after winning or killing another player. It is essentially the gaming world’s victory dance, so for players to see it becoming exactly that in the real world has definitely made plenty happy. In Fortnite itself, it is essentially adding salt to the wound and making things worse so nobody wants to be on the receiving end. The action has been around for ages, and Griezmann is obviously a huge fan. The World Cup could not have ended on a better note, for France and for Epic Games.
