Showtime has recently announced plans that have gotten Halo fans even more excited than they already were. The news that Halo has decided to come up with a TV series already got rumor mills buzzing, but having the Master Chief as one of the main characters is taking them over the top. With plenty of past attempts to bring Halo to the big screen ending in failure, a lot of fans were a bit apprehensive about this attempt and how it is going to unfold. Nonetheless, so far there has only been good news and it looks like producers are going the extra mile this time around.
The series is due to release in 2020, so there is quite a wait ahead of us. But as announcements are rolling in, it does seem like it is going to be worth the wait. When Showtime’s President of Programming, Gary Levine, stated that Master Chief is going to be a key character in the series, he did go on to add that there would be other main characters as well. So the focus is not going to be solely on one character.
Part of the recent announcement made on behalf of Showtime also explained that the TV series is probably going to shoot scenes in a studio area that will be permanently dedicated to the construction of various locations, rather than travelling to a dozen countries. This is because the series is going to have plenty of alien planets in the mix, so there will be a huge variety needed.
Having a character like Master Chief in the lead role will be a bit of a challenge considering the character lacks even a face, but it seems like Showtime is up for it. In terms of the storyline, the series will have an original story but it will keep in mind the basic structure of everything in Halo that has come before it. The series will actually have a writer behind the script that does not have a sci-fi background, with the aim being to have more character depth while maintaining the sci-fi element that Halo is known for. This TV show could be a huge success in the eyes of Halo fans, while also bringing on new viewers that search for a good drama series on Showtime.
